The influence of the fuel type on the structure of soot particles formed in laminar pre-mixed flames of ethylene-air and acetylene-air was analyzed. The comparison was carried out between young soot at an intermediate stage of growth, and mature soot. The 1st order Raman spectra of sampled particles were analyzed and compared with each other. As a result of Raman spectra interpretation, it was obtained that for both fuels, during the growth of soot particles, the size of graphene layers increases, as well as the content of hydrogen in the particles decreases. Acetylene soot shows a more graphitized structure than ethylene soot. Keywords: soot particles, laminar premixed flames, Raman spectroscopy, graphene layers, internal structure.
